Butler County Rescue Squad
(Butler County, KS)
Butler County Rescue Squad is a combination paid/volunteer group of professionals who specialize in various aspects of rescue service. They provide service to the largest county (sq. mles) in Kansas which covers 1,446 square miles with a population of 63,147.

The rescue squad service includes vehicle extrication, water rescue and recovery, swift water rescue, confined space rescue, high-angle/low-angle rescue, dive operations, disaster response, and other aspects of emergency response. The rescue squad operates under the administration of Butler County Emergency Medical Service and is made up of a primary unit in El Dorado and satellite units operated by fire districts in Andover, Augusta, Rose Hill, and Douglass.

*Station 1 in El Dorado is staffed by 20 volunteer rescue squad members. They respond to an average of 50 to 75 alarms a year. They are subject to county-wide response but the primarily service area is the northern and eastern portions of the county.

1997 Ford F-350/Knaphedie

* Rescue 25,26, Boat 3, and 4 are operated by Augusta Department of Safety. Rescue 25 operates a 1997 Ford F350/Knaphedie rescue utility with jaws, air bags, and cribbing.

Rescue 26
2005 Ford E-450
*Rescue 25,26, Boat 3, and 4 are operated by Augusta Department of Public Safety. It is equipped for swift water rescue, dive operations, and confined space rescue. Boat 3 (below) is a inflatable boat and Boat 4 is a V-Bottom boat.

Rescue 35
2001 Ford F-550/Central States

*Rescue 35 is operated by Andover Fire-Rescue. Rescue 35 operates a rescue unit with a 250 gpm pump and 250 gallon tank. It responds to the western portion of the county and carries air bags, jaws, and cribbing.

Rescue 55
2005 Ford F-550/Unruh

*Rescue 55 and Heavy Rescue 33 are operated by Butler County Fire District #3 of Rose Hill. It is equipped with jaws, air bags, and cribbing. It responds to the southwestern portion of Butler County. They also operate a trailer equipped with shoring to assist with trench rescue operations (below).

*Rescue 65 is operated by Butler County Fire District #8 of Douglass. Rescue 65 is equipped with jaws, air bags, cribbing. It responds to the southern portion of Butler County.
